Exact sentence:
She lowered the knife and it grew even brighter

When she lowered the knife the pumpkin grew even brighter. As the knife she was holding hovered over the pumpkin she thought back to the first time she saw this orange thing. Her husband had brought her the pumpkin for their last thanksgiving together. Every year he would buy her the perfect pumpkin which, in turn, she would make a homemade pie. She would put in the love and caring she had for her husband and the holidays in her one pie she made every year since they had little money for a normal feast. It was a tradition that they held for many years and they would never change that. They were never ashamed of their simple tradition. A few weeks before their last Thanksgiving her husband was diagnosed with cancer and was given only weeks to live. Instead of carving their pumpkin she tended for here husband. She wanted him to live through one more holiday with her. The only thing he would say was that he wanted her to make their last pie together. He wanted her to smile one last time before he left her. Sadly, after his statement and after she agreed he died the night before Thanksgiving. She grieved and missed her husband so much that night she wished for anything to bring him back. She would give up everything, however small it was. She didn't have anything to remember him by that really captured his essence. Sighing, she walked over and decided to carve their traditional pumpkin for their pumpkin pie one last time. She lowered the knife and it started to glow. Her eyes grew wide and she realized this was her spirit of her husband she had been asking for. This pumpkin had captured his essence. She never carved her husbands pumpkin. It sits on the night stand by her bed forever reminding her of her caring husband.
In one of my classes my teacher showed us a book. It was full of drawings that had one sentence captions. This book was the writings and illustrations from Harris Burdick. She gave us the assignment to finish what he wrote that went along with the picture. The only catch was that we had to use the sentence he used. This is my story from the picture Just Desert.
